Day-1. DEPARTURE CITY - MALAGA:
Overnight flight to Malaga.
Day-2.
MALAGA - TORREMOLINOS:
Arrive at the airport and continue with a short bus ride to
Malaga. This city was established almost 3000 years ago. See
the Cathedral and Plaza Mercedes, where the famous painter Pablo
Picasso was born. Then to Torremolinos and your beach front
hotel.
Day-3.
TORREMOLINOS:
Explore the town of Torremolinos which first attracted crowds
in 1498 when the Catholic kings and their vast number of troops
camped here during the siege of Malaga. The town evolved into
a thriving center for fishing, primarily centered around La
Carihuela, an area just east of town where traditional fishermen
still remain and some of the best seafood restaurants can be
found.
Day-4.
TORREMOLINOS - GRANADA -SEVILLE:
Travel through Sierra Nevada to Granada. Your local guide will
walk you through Alhambra Palace, considered the most beautiful
palace built by the Moors. Walk trough amazing court yards and
rooms. See the room where the Queen Isabella la Catolica gave
the money that she got pawning her jewelry to Christopher Columbus
so he could go and search for the new route to China. Then continue
to Generalife Gardens, an amazing park with numerous fountains.
Then visit the Cathedral. Later on continue to Seville.
Day-5.
SEVILLE:
Guided city tour of this magnificent place. The city sits well
inland, but a mere 6 meters above sea level. Throughout history
Seville was an important sea port. It was from Seville that
Ferdinand Magellan obtained ships for his circumnavigation.
Much of the Spanish Empire's silver from the New World came
to Europe in the Spanish treasure fleets that landed in Seville.
Visit the Cathedral and the famous La Giralda, the Royal Castle-the
Alcazar and walk through the Jewish Quarter. In the evening
enjoy a Flamenco Show.
Day-6. SEVILLE - MADRID:
Take
a speedy train to Madrid. Upon arrival go for a walking tour
along Gran Via, the main artery of this great city. Walk to
Plaza Mayor, Puerta del Sol and the Opera. Have a soft drink
at Cafe Orient and enjoy the view of the Royal Palace and life
as it goes by.
Day-7.
MADRID:
Start with a guided city tour. See/Visit: Retiro Park, Puerta
del Sol, Gateway to the Sun, kilometer zero from which all the
country's road distances are measured, the Opera, and the beautiful
parks and plazas. Continue on to, Plaza de la Villa, Basilica
de San Miguel, Capilla del Obispo, the only Gothic temple in
Madrid and Palacio Real. Then visit the famous Prado Museum,
housing masterpieces by Velasquez, Goya, Murillo, Ribera and
much, much more.
Day-8.
MADRID - BARCELONA:
Early morning departure for Barcelona. Upon arrival, you will
have a guided city tour of the capital of Catalonia: the Gothic
Quarter, the former fortified Roman village with its many Gothic
monuments, the Cathedral dating from the 14th and 15th century,
Plaza de Rei, Ribera Quarter, the wonderful Church of the Sacred
Family (inside visit) and Columbus Lookout, a 50 meter iron
column supporting a statue of the discoverer of the Americas.
Day-9.
SITGES - BARCELONA:
Free time in Sitges to explore this seaside town with its sandy
beaches, or return to Barcelona for an exciting walk along La
Rambla, Montjuic Hill and Guell Park, the main playground of
the city.
Day-10.
DEPARTURE:
Transfer to the airport for your return flight.
